JOB SUMMARY
Seeking an experienced healthcare leader to oversee the administrative, clinical, and operational functions of Women’s & Newborn Services. This role provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership across Labor & Delivery, maternity surgical services, Mom/Baby, Normal Newborn Nursery, Lactation, Level II & III NICU, neonatal transport, OB Emergency Department, outreach, education, and related programs.
The Director is responsible for quality and safety outcomes, employee engagement, patient experience, regulatory compliance, fiscal management, staffing, process improvement, and service line growth. This leader will collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, other service lines, community partners, and rural providers to optimize care coordination and improve patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead administrative and operational functions for Women’s & Newborn Services.
- Develop and manage budgets and ensure responsible use of financial resources.
- Lead strategic planning, program development, and service line growth initiatives.
- Oversee clinical operations, staffing plans, standards of care, and process improvement.
- Serve as the administrative liaison to physicians and medical staff.
- Allocate human, material, and financial resources effectively.
- Collaborate across departments to optimize patient flow and care coordination.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and specialty designation requirements.
- Use quality metrics, research, and outcomes data to drive improvements.
- Evaluate operational performance and reimbursement considerations.
- Champion patient- and family-centered care, quality, safety, and cost stewardship.
- Lead department leaders through goal setting, performance management, coaching, and change.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, innovation, and professional nursing practice.
- Effectively manage conflict, change, negotiation, and mediation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MSN or other related master’s degree – Required
- Current Iowa RN license – Required
- Valid driver’s license – Required when driving for work purposes
- 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience at or above the manager level in NICU and/or Obstetrics, with demonstrated improvement in outcomes – Required
- BLS – Required
- Iowa license required; Compact license accepted
