CRITICAL CARE NURSE PRACTITIONER – INPATIENT LOCUMS
We are seeking a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner with dedicated Critical Care experience to provide ongoing inpatient coverage. This role requires an autonomous provider capable of managing a range of critical care responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
DATES NEEDED
- JUNE: 1, 2, 11, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 29, 30 (Day Shifts)
- JULY: 1, 6, 9, 11, 12, 16–22, 24, 27 (Day Shifts); 24–27 (Night Shifts)
- AUGUST: 13–17, 20–24 (Shift times TBD)
- ONGOING: Shifts available indefinitely; flexible scheduling around provider availability with a minimum commitment of one stint per month.
SHIFT DETAILS
- SCHEDULE: Friday through Tuesday.
- HOURS: 7:00 PM – 8:00 AM (13-hour night shifts).
JOB DETAILS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- PRACTICE SETTING: Inpatient Critical Care.
- AUTONOMY: Advanced Practice Provider will work independently.
- PATIENT LOAD: Average of 13 patients per day (range: 1–20).
- VENTILATOR MANAGEMENT: Managing vents with assistance from Respiratory Therapy.
- ADMISSIONS: Admitting new critical care patients from the Emergency Department, hospital floors, and regional transfers.
- MONITORING: Continuous monitoring of critical care patients and rapid response for decompensating patients overnight.
- COMMUNICATION: Updating families and establishing goals of care during acute changes in patient status.
- EMR: EPIC.
PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be proficient and comfortable performing the following:
- Central Venous Lines (CVLs)
- Arterial Lines
- Dialysis Catheters (HD caths)
REQUIREMENTS
- BOARD CERTIFICATION: Nurse Practitioner (NP) Required.
- EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in a Critical Care/ICU setting is required.
- LICENSURE: Active Virginia State License and DEA.
- CERTIFICATIONS: BLS and ACLS.
- AVAILABILITY: Must be able to cover the specific dates listed and maintain a monthly commitment for ongoing coverage.
- BACKGROUND: A clean background is required to facilitate temporary privileges (2–4 week credentialing).
