Locum Nurse Practitioner – Critical Care
  • Rate: $100–$120/hour + stipends

Travel Reimbursement/Stipends:
  • Flight reimbursement.
  • Hotel reimbursement (up to $150/night).
  • Rental car/Uber reimbursement (up to $50/day).
  • Mileage reimbursement at IRS standard rate.

Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for an ongoing inpatient locum assignment. This need is expected to continue while additional providers complete credentialing. Providers must be able to cover at least one block of shifts per month.

Schedule:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
  • Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

Ongoing coverage available with flexible scheduling based on provider availability.

Practice Details:
  • Inpatient Critical Care setting.
  • Adult patient population.
  • Average census of 13 patients per day (range 1–20).
  • EMR: Epic.
  • Provider will work autonomously.
  • Credentialing timeframe: 2–4 weeks.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage critically ill adult patients.
  • Ventilator management with Respiratory Therapy support.
  • Admit critical care patients from the Emergency Department, hospital floors, and surrounding hospitals.
  • Monitor and respond to deteriorating patient conditions.
  • Perform procedures including:
    • Central Venous Lines (CVLs).
    • Arterial Lines.
    • Hemodialysis Catheters.
  • Update families regarding patient status and goals of care.

Requirements:
  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Active Virginia License and DEA.
  • BLS Certification.
  • ACLS Certification.
  • Critical Care/ICU experience required.
  • Must be able to place central lines, arterial lines, and dialysis catheters.
  • Must be available to cover required shifts.
  • Must be able to provide coverage every month.
  • Clean background required for temporary privileges.
