Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (Locum Tenens)
Seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) with strong Cardiothoracic Surgery experience for a 6–9 month assignment. The provider will support a high-volume cardiac surgery service, assisting in the OR, managing post-operative patients, and providing inpatient and limited outpatient care.
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday plus call coverage.
- 1–2 weekday calls and weekend call rotation.
- Night call: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Start as soon as credentialed.
Responsibilities:
- First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
- Manage cardiac surgery patients in acute care and ICU settings.
- Perform patient rounding and clinic support as needed.
- Evaluate and manage post-operative cardiac patients.
- Collaborate with surgeons, APPs, nursing staff, and care teams.
Required Experience:
- Cardiothoracic Surgery experience in both the OR and inpatient settings.
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (on-pump).
- Valve repair and replacement procedures.
- General cardiovascular/thoracic surgery.
- ICU and post-operative patient management.
Preferred Skills:
- Cardiac and thoracic aneurysm repair.
- VATS/lung resection procedures.
- Chest wall and pleural procedures.
- LVAD management.
- Ventilator management.
- Central line placement.
- Acute hemodynamic and volume management.
Practice Details:
- Primarily hospital-based practice.
- Average daily volume: 5–10 patients.
- 1–2 surgeries per day.
- EMR: Epic.
- Collaborative team of surgeons, APPs, RNs, and support staff.
Requirements:
- Certified Nurse Practitioner.
- Active WA license preferred (or ability to obtain during credentialing).
- Clean malpractice and background history preferred.
- Local candidates strongly preferred.
- Current NPDB Self-Query report required at submission.
Assignment Length: 6–9 months
Start Date: As soon as credentialed (credentialing approximately 3+ months)
