Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant – Night Coverage
Position Overview
Seeking a certified Physician Assistant for overnight inpatient trauma call coverage in a hospital setting due to a recruitment gap. This is a local-only opportunity with ongoing coverage needs through the end of 2026.
Schedule
- June 30, 2026 – December 31, 2026
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, onsite
Practice Setting
- Hospital-based inpatient trauma service
- Trauma surgeons available on-call from home
- Average patient volume: 15–20 patients per shift
- EMR: Cerner
Responsibilities
- Provide overnight trauma and general surgery coverage
- Evaluate and manage adult trauma and surgical patients
- Perform procedures including:
- Central line placement
- Chest tube insertion
- Vascular access device placement
- Collaborate with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
- Certified Physician Assistant
- Active Michigan license
- Local candidate required
- ACLS certification
- ATLS certification
- DEA required
- COVID vaccination required
- Current Self-Query NPDB report (within 30 days of presentation)
