PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT – THORACIC SURGERY
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for a 5–6 month locum assignment providing thoracic surgery coverage.
- Schedule: 2–3 shifts per week.
- Shift: 12 hours, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM.
- Setting: Hospital.
- EMR: EPIC.
- Patient population: Adult/Geriatric.
- Average census: 15–25 patients per shift.
- Primarily floor patients from Step Down, OR/Post-Op, and ICU.
- PA works primarily independently, with a fellow available as a clinical resource.
- Potential first responder to codes until the fellow arrives.
- May perform H&P for patients transferred from other hospitals.
- Coverage is for maternity leave.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Thoracic surgery experience
- Chest tube, Blake drain, and pigtail management
- ABG experience
- NGT and G/J feeding tube experience preferred
- ACLS and BLS
- NCCPA certification
- DEA required
Credentialing: Approximately 90 days; temporary privileges may be considered.
