Medical Director – Correctional Health Services
Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced physician leader to direct and oversee all medical services within a correctional healthcare setting. This role provides strategic and clinical leadership, ensures high-quality patient care, supervises medical staff, drives quality improvement initiatives, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate all medical services within the correctional health program.
- Provide clinical oversight for adult and women's health services.
- Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and develop physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Serve as supervising physician and consultant to nursing and clinical leadership.
- Oversee quality management, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, procedures, and operational goals.
- Support physician recruitment, retention, and professional development efforts.
- Collaborate with behavioral health, specialty care, hospital services, and community healthcare partners.
- Provide education and training for residents, students, and advanced practice providers.
- Manage departmental operations, workflows, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives.
- Promote patient-centered care and address social determinants of health in treatment planning.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an ACGME or AMA-approved residency program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in an appropriate specialty.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience within clinical medicine programs.
- Previous correctional health experience required.
- Active Texas medical license or willingness to obtain within 180 days.
- Strong leadership, communication, team-building, and physician collaboration skills.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, and motivate medical teams.
- Professional reference within the past 24 months.
- Current NPDB Self-Query Report required at presentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clean malpractice and licensure history.
- Spanish language proficiency.
