CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER / ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY TECHNOLOGIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cardiac Sonographer works closely with cardiologists to assess and diagnose cardiac conditions. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic echocardiography procedures for inpatient and outpatient populations, with occasional assignments at multiple sites and on-call coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures, including:
- M-mode, 2D, and 3D echocardiography.
- Spectral, color, and tissue Doppler imaging.
- Strain imaging.
- Bubble studies and contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiograms.
- Exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms.
- Imaging for structural heart procedures.
- Assist cardiologists with 2D and 3D transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
- Follow aseptic techniques and recognize EKG rhythms.
- Use electronic medical records to document procedures and findings.
- Assist with the assessment and treatment of cardiac conditions.
- Provide on-call coverage for after-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Work at multiple designated Heart and Vascular Institute sites as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Sonographer experience.
- Current RDCS or RCS certification — required; documentation must be provided.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree from an accredited echocardiography program.
- Current BLS certification through AHA or ARC — required; documentation must be provided.
- Experience with IV insertion for ultrasound imaging enhancement agents and bubble studies.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and EKG rhythms.
- Ability to use electronic medical records.
- Willingness to work at multiple designated sites as needed.
- BLS (AHA or ARC).
