HISTOTECHNOLOGIST
We are seeking an experienced Histotechnologist (Histotech) for a clinical laboratory opportunity. The ideal candidate will have strong tissue-processing experience and be skilled in preparing high-quality slides for diagnostic analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare thin sections of human, animal, or plant tissue for microscopic analysis.
- Examine, fix, and process tissue specimens to ensure proper preservation.
- Perform paraffin embedding to prepare tissue for sectioning.
- Cut tissue specimens using a microtome or cryostat.
- Mount tissue sections onto slides.
- Stain tissue samples to highlight abnormalities and support accurate analysis.
- Recognize factors that may affect procedures and quality of results and take appropriate corrective action.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Monitor and manage laboratory supplies as needed.
- Follow laboratory quality-control procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, quality, and safety throughout all laboratory procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Histotechnologist/Histotech – REQUIRED.
- HT or HTL certification through ASCP – REQUIRED.
- Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, mounting, and staining.
- Experience operating and maintaining histology laboratory equipment.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues that may impact specimen quality.
CERTIFICATION:
- ASCP HT or HTL certification – REQUIRED.
