Operating Room Nurse – Assignment Overview
Key Requirement: Epic EMR experience must be clearly stated at submission to avoid delays.
Compliance Requirements:
- A valid New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate must be included with submission.
- A 14-panel drug screen (or higher) must be completed within 24 hours of offer acceptance, covering a full list of substances including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, opioids, cocaine metabolites, methadone, and others.
- Required onboarding training must be completed through an approved program (focused on verbal de-escalation or crisis prevention).
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient care.
- Maintain sterile surgical environments and ensure patient safety.
- Perform patient assessments, education, and care coordination throughout the surgical process.
- Monitor both physical and emotional patient status.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room experience.
- Strong experience in vascular and orthopedic surgery.
- Experience in multiple specialties including trauma, general surgery, robotics, urology, and ENT.
- Experience with both circulating (primary role) and scrubbing.
- Prior travel experience required.
- Epic EMR proficiency required.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS.
Work Environment:
- Mixed patient population (pediatric through adult).
- Multiple operating rooms with a wide range of surgical specialties (excluding certain highly specialized fields).
- Moderate-to-high daily surgical volume.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a personal vehicle.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requested time off must be declared at submission (changes not accepted later).
- Orientation includes a short non-billable period.
- On-call duties required.
