LOCUM APP – CRITICAL CARE ICU | MASSACHUSETTS
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Specialty: Critical Care / ICU APP.
- Setting: Teaching Hospital – Adult ICU.
- Location: Massachusetts.
- EMR: Epic.
- Patient Population: Adult.
- ICU Beds: 10.
- Average Daily Census: 7.
- Assignment Type: Locum.
SCHEDULE:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM–7:00 PM.
- Night Shift: 6:00 PM–7:00 AM.
- Weekend coverage required.
- Friday night is considered a weekend shift.
- Local providers preferred.
- Providers should be able to commute by car, train, or subway.
- No travel provided.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Round with the attending physician in the morning
- Complete patient care tasks throughout the day
- Conduct afternoon rounds
- Serve as a responding clinician for the ICU
- Provide bread-and-butter ICU and medical-surgical care
- Manage approximately 1–2 burn patients
- Work with a team of 4 APPs under physician supervision
- Some clinical independence is encouraged
PROCEDURES:
- No intubations.
- No central lines.
- No ventilator management.
- No transplant cases.
- No ECHO.
- No head/complex neurosurgical cases.
- No EVD management.
- No complex neuro-stroke cases.
- No procedures performed by APPs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of critical care experience.
- Acute Care board certification with ICU experience.
- Massachusetts license required.
- PA candidates only.
- PAs must apply for Massachusetts licensure before credentialing can begin.
- ACLS certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- DEA required.
- Credentialing timeframe: approximately 90 days.
