LOCUM APP – CRITICAL CARE ICU | MASSACHUSETTS

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Specialty: Critical Care / ICU APP.
Setting: Teaching Hospital – Adult ICU.
Location: Massachusetts.
EMR: Epic.
Patient Population: Adult.
ICU Beds: 10.
Average Daily Census: 7.
Assignment Type: Locum.

SCHEDULE:

Day Shift: 6:00 AM–7:00 PM.
Night Shift: 6:00 PM–7:00 AM.
Weekend coverage required.
Friday night is considered a weekend shift.
Local providers preferred.
Providers should be able to commute by car, train, or subway.
No travel provided.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Round with the attending physician in the morning
Complete patient care tasks throughout the day
Conduct afternoon rounds
Serve as a responding clinician for the ICU
Provide bread-and-butter ICU and medical-surgical care
Manage approximately 1–2 burn patients
Work with a team of 4 APPs under physician supervision
Some clinical independence is encouraged

PROCEDURES:

No intubations.
No central lines.
No ventilator management.
No transplant cases.
No ECHO.
No head/complex neurosurgical cases.
No EVD management.
No complex neuro-stroke cases.
No procedures performed by APPs.

REQUIREMENTS:

2+ years of critical care experience.
Acute Care board certification with ICU experience.
Massachusetts license required.
PA candidates only.
PAs must apply for Massachusetts licensure before credentialing can begin.
ACLS certification required.
BLS certification required.
DEA required.
Credentialing timeframe: approximately 90 days.
